Have they ever experienced true joy?
Ever looked at the world around them in awe,
even if only as a child?
I can only assume they have not,
or maybe they’ve forgotten,
because who, having experienced true wonder,
would spend their life trying to oppress others?
The ones who have more than they will ever need
will spend their one wild and precious life
desperately clinging to power, money, more, more, more.
They will invoke the name of God in their pursuit of excess.
But their god is money.
Their god is power.
Their god is war, greed, and self.
You cannot know the God I know and oppress
the widow, the orphan, the poor.
When you’ve seen the God I’ve seen,
you see him everywhere, in every one.
Their god can only be found in their mirror
and cannot lead them to wonder, awe, or true joy.
